Suspected DUI crash involving dump truck in Tampa kills 1, injures 2

TAMPA, FL – A multi-vehicle crash involving a dump truck in west Tampa left one man dead and two others hospitalized.

According to Fox 13, a 2006 Scion ran the red light at East Columbus Drive and the I-4 entrance ramp at about 2:20 a.m. and was hit by a dump truck passing through the intersection.

A 25-year-old man riding in the passenger seat of the Scion was rushed to a local hospital, where he died a short time later.

Both the driver and another passenger were also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The dump truck’s driver was reportedly unhurt.

Currently, DUI charges are pending against the unidentified driver.
