Semi rear-ends big rig in Stuart, sending adult, child to hospital

STUART, FL – A semi-truck driver and a 10-year-old child with them were taken to Martin South Hospital after they tried to switch lanes and rear-ended another big rig Wednesday.

WPBF said this collision occurred around 6:15 a.m. on northbound Florida’s Turnpike. The second semi that was struck was hit on the left back corner. As indicated in the source’s photo, the impact led one of the trucks, an Amazon semi, to jackknife

Florida Highway Patrol said one person sustained a potential “broken nose” but did not say whether it was the child or first semi-driver who was injured.

Troopers temporarily closed the northbound lanes and lifted lane closures at approximately 7:50 a.m.

No other details are available.
