Sedan vs tractor-trailer crash in Miami Lakes leaves driver critically hurt

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FL — A driver was flown to a hospital Tuesday morning after a sedan collided with a semi-truck in northeast Miami Lakes, reports NBC Miami.

The accident took place at the intersection of Northwest 158th Street and Northwest 57th Avenue (Red Road/Florida Highway 823).

While the events leading up to the collision are unclear, a green sedan and a tractor-trailer were involved, and the sedan was left extensively damaged. Emergency responders had to remove the car’s roof in order to access and extricate the driver.

Miami-Dad Fire Rescue officials confirmed one person was listed as a trauma alert and was airlifted to an area hospital. At this time, the severity of the patient’s condition has not been disclosed.

Authorities also did not say whether anyone else was hurt.

An investigation remains underway.
