COLLIER COUNTY, FL — A man died Thursday morning following a rollover crash involving an SUV and a dump truck in northeast Naples, according to WINK.
The accident unfolded on a stretch of Immokalee Road near Rabbit Run Road.
Florida Highway Patrol officials say the man was operating a white SUV southbound when he veered out of his lane and entered the northbound lane. Shortly after, the SUV collided with an oncoming dump truck.
The force of the crash, which left the truck’s front end crushed and pushed the SUV onto its side, caused both vehicles to land in a swampy ditch.
First responders arrived on the scene to find the SUV partially submerged, and its male driver was pronounced deceased at the scene shortly after.
A passenger in the SUV who suffered serious injuries was rushed to an area hospital. No information about their condition has been shared.
A section of the road was shut down during the response and investigation.
