Pickup truck driver killed in crash with dump truck at Englewood intersection

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, FL — One person lost their life Monday afternoon due to a collision involving a dump truck on State Road 776 in Englewood, according to WINK.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the fatal accident took place at the intersection with Sunnybrook Boulevard.

Preliminary details show that the driver of a dump truck heading westbound on State Road 776 ran a red light at Sunnybrook Boulevard, causing the truck’s front-end to hit the side of a pickup truck that was traveling southbound.

The driver of the pickup succumbed to their injuries at the scene, confirmed officials.

The FHP has not released any information indicating pending charges, but an investigation was in progress.
