Pedestrian fatally hit by box truck in Tampa 

TAMPA, FL – A pedestrian lost their life after they were struck by a box truck on Saturday, July 19, according to ABC Action News.

Preliminary details from The Tampa Police Department show that the truck had collided with the pedestrian as he was driving the truck in the Wawa convenience store parking lot located at North 50th Street and East Columbus Drive. The crash happened after 5 a.m. and warranted a quick response from police.

Officers declared the pedestrian dead at the scene and said he “laid down or collapsed near the wheels of the parked box truck.”

The truck driver claimed he did not see the pedestrian as he moved his vehicle. He also showed no signs of impairment and cooperated fully with officers.
