COLLIER COUNTY, FL – A man was killed, and three others were injured, in a seven-vehicle crash on I-75 early Friday morning, WINK reports.
The collision occurred at mile marker 96 at around midnight. It involved three semi trucks and four passenger vehicles.
One of the semi-truck drivers stopped in the travel lane due to low visibility caused by smoke from a prescribed burn at Picayune Strand State Forest. A second semi collided with the truck’s rear, causing a chain reaction crash.
A 52-year-old man from Madeira driving a Chevrolet pickup was killed. Two occupants of the pickup were transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Another driver of a passenger vehicle was hospitalized with minor injuries.
