Merge attempt leads to fatal wreck with semi in Lee Co.

LEE COUNTY, FL – A 28-year-old man driving a Lexus had tried to merge from an I-75 outside lane to a center lane when he collided with a semi, leading to his death Friday.

The collision happened after 3:30 p.m. near mile marker 147, according to WINK News. Florida Highway Patrol said the man had hit the big rig’s back left tire and the axle, did not wear a seatbelt, and was ejected as a result. He landed in a grassy area and perished as a result.

Troopers confirmed the truck driver was unharmed.
