Man loses life in Palmetto fiery rear-end crash involving parked semi

PALMETTO, FL – A 35-year-old man from Ruskin lost his life after he rear-ended a parked semi-truck on U.S.41, causing both vehicles to catch fire Friday. 

The Bradenton Herald said this collision happened before 2:30 a.m. near Piney Point Road. Florida Highway Patrol confirmed that the 35-year-old did not wear a seatbelt, while the semi driver, a 45-year-old man from Georgia, was spared from harm. 

FHP launched an investigation and has not provided additional commentary at this time.
