Man hurt, woman dies as car, big rig collide in Ridge Manor 

RIDGE MANOR, FL – A 72-year-old man driving a Ford Focus pursued a turn when he struck a semi-truck, which injured himself and claimed the life of his passenger Sunday. 

WFLA said this wreck occurred shortly before 2 p.m. at the intersection of Cortez Boulevard and U.S. 301. Florida Highway Patrol said the 72-year-old man was traveling east on Cortez at the time of the collision. 

FHP said the man’s passenger, who they identified as an 86-year-old woman from Bushnell, succumbed to fatal wounds, while ambulance personnel rushed the 72-year-old man from Nobleton to a hospital for treatment of serious wounds. 

The truck driver was spared from injuries. At this time, FHP has not confirmed whether the car motorist or truck driver will be cited or charged. Updates will be added as more information surfaces.
