Man, 64, dies when semi falls into Tampa Bypass Canal

TAMPA, FL – A 64-year-old man driving a semi-truck hit a concrete wall barrier, leading the truck’s cab to separate, which fell into the Tampa Bypass Canal, claiming his life Monday.

This solo collision occurred around 2:35 a.m. off I-275 near mile marker 263. According to Click Orlando, divers from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office had to dive into the water to receive his body.

Troopers started an investigation and did not confirm if heavy rains played a role in Monday’s deadly wreck.
