JACKSONVILLE BEACH, FL – A 48-year-old man died following a double semi-truck rear-end collision on I-295 Monday, First Coast News said.
The events unfolded around 8:30 a.m. when the 48-year-old man, driving a semi-truck, had stopped for congested traffic. Another driver of a semi-truck had declined to reduce his speed and then rear-ended the 48-year-old man’s truck.
The 48-year-old man, a Jacksonville Beach resident, died at the accident scene.
The other semi-truck operator, a 46-year-old man from Orlando, was uninjured.
Transportation crews shut down the I-295 North and Butler Boulevard connector for the accident scene clearance process.
Florida Highway Patrol is actively investigating the details behind the deadly truck collision. At this time, troopers have made no mention of citing the Orlando driver or said if he could anticipate criminal charges.
