Life claimed, one hurt in Port St. Lucie car, tractor-trailer wreck

PORT ST. LUCIE, FL – A tractor-trailer driver lost their life, and another person was hospitalized following a collision on FL’s Turnpike Tuesday, WPTV said.

Just before 11:30 p.m., the truck driver had crashed into a concrete rail and a small car. The truck’s tandem trailer was said to have “possibly scraped the bottom” of the overpass and spilled 100 gallons of diesel fuel.

No fire had ignited, but fire crews still came to the scene to contain the spill. Due to the nature of the wreck, transportation crews closed the north and southbound lanes for the standard acne clearance process.

Florida Highway Patrol also responded to the crash site. Troopers are actively working to determine the exact contributing factors behind the wreck.

Additional details, which include the deceased victim’s name, will be added to this news blog once the latest developments become confirmed.
