FHP investigates trash truck rollover wreck in Venice

VENICE, FL – Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the circumstances behind a multi-vehicle crash that caused a trash truck to overturn and spill gravel into I-75 Monday.

Troopers told MySunCoast that the events unfolded when a driver of a semi-truck drifted from a center lane and hit a vehicle and then another. One of the affected vehicles was the aforementioned dump truck, and one unspecified automobile had landed in the woods.

At the time of the reporting, crews were cleaning up debris from the wreck, and traffic delays were piling up and could be seen for 12 miles. The exact cause of the crash and reports of injuries have not been mentioned.
