FHP investigates pickup, double semi collision in Ormond Beach

ORMOND BEACH, FL – Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the circumstances behind a pickup truck and double semi-truck collision on I-95 North Tuesday.

Fox35 Orlando said the events unfolded when one semi-truck driver drifted off I-95 North, crashed into three light poles, and then overcorrected, which caused the truck to overturn. A pickup truck driver saw what occurred and went to render aid to this specific truck driver. Just as the pickup truck motorist was approaching, another tractor-trailer crashed into the other big rig and pickup truck.

Troopers said the second semi-truck driver had failed to yield, which appears to have played a significant role in the collision. Despite the serious nature of the crash, the fish inside one of the trucks did not spill on the road, and no one appeared to have been unharmed.
