DAVIE, FL – A truck driver was rushed to the hospital after a tanker truck carrying cooking oil crashed near Pine Island Ridge last Thursday.
According to a report by NBC Miami, the crash happened in the westbound lanes of I-595 near the exit to Nob Hill Road.
Investigators say the truck experienced a brake failure, leading to the crash. The driver, whose identity is unclear at this time, as taken to Ryder Trauma’s burn unit in serious condition.
This portion of I-595 was shut down for nearly 9 hours while crews worked to clear the roadway.
