Driver killed in fiery trash truck accident in DeFuniak Springs 

DEFUNIAK SPRINGS, FL – A driver was killed in a fiery trash truck accident that happened off Sherwood Road Tuesday, WFLA reports.

According to the Walton County Sheriff’s office, the driver had lost control of his trash truck while driving, which led him to crash into a power line and the truck to catch on fire. Additional details reveal that the driver was dropping off landscaping debris on the property prior to the crash.

The driver succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Walton County Fire Rescue, Argyle Volunteer Fire Department, and City of DeFuniak Springs Fire Department all worked together to extinguish the flames from the truck.

The Choctawhatchee Electric Cooperative Inc. also responded to the scene to help restore power.

Florida Highway Patrol were also summoned to the accident scene. The truck driver’s identity has not been disclosed.
