Driver injured in collision with truck carrying pesticides in Hernando County, FL

HERNANDO COUNTY, FL – A collision between a truck and an SUV in Florida on Wednesday morning sent one of the drivers to the hospital.

A report by WTSP states that emergency crews were called to the scene on US 41 near Old Crystal River Road in Hernando County shortly after 7:30 a.m.   An SUV was involved in an apparent head-on crash at that location with a truck carrying pesticides.

One person was extricated from the SUV after being trapped inside, and was flown to an area trauma center for treatment.  A hazmat team was dispatched to clean up the pesticides that had spilled onto the roadway as a result of the wreck.  The Florida Department of Environmental Protection also assisted with the cleanup efforts.
