TAMPA, FL – A 62-year-old female driver was hospitalized for unspecified injuries after her Nissan Altima was rear-ended by a big rig on I-75 Monday.
According to ABC Action News, the initial rear-ended collision took place before 11:30 a.m. south of mile marker 262, which is adjacent to the Tampa Executive Airport. Once the Nissan Altima was hit, it was propelled forward, prompting a multi-chain reaction wreck.
The other involved vehicles were a Toyota Camry, a Suzuki Grand Vitara, and a Honda Accord.
All of the other motorists, aged 27 to 68, were left unharmed. The Florida Highway Patrol launched an investigation. Early details revealed that the male truck driver, 55, did not slow down during congested traffic. Troopers have not said if they cited him or if he could anticipate criminal charges.
FHP shut down a major portion of the area until 2:44 p.m. All lanes have reopened since.
