2 self-extricate from van after Cape Coral collision with big rig 

CAPE CORAL, FL – A van driver and one dog were able to free themselves from their van, which got trapped under a big rig after both vehicles collided Thursday. 

This collision happened around 5:40 a.m. at the Pine Island Road and Chiquita Boulevard South junction, according to NBC-2

Cape Coral Police and Cape Coral Fire Rescue both responded to the scene. After arriving, fire rescue crews extricated the other dog trapped underneath the van’s passenger seat. 

First responders closed westbound and eastbound Pine Island Road to render aid and conduct their investigation. 

It is not immediately clear what exactly caused this crash or if anyone sustained injuries.
