2 hurt in double rear-end semi-truck crash in Crestview

CRESTVIEW, FL – A 71-year-old man driving a semi-truck rear-ended another tractor-trailer parked in an I-10 emergency lane, leading both drivers to sustain injuries in the process Friday.

This collision took place along the Holt exit and prompted a response from the Crestview and Holt fire crews, according to WEAR News Channel 3. Firefighters said they extricated one of the drivers, who got either pinned or entrapped inside their truck. Once the extrication was complete, ambulance personnel rushed the 71-year-old man from Anna, Texas, and the other driver, a 47-year-old man, to a hospital.

The 47-year-old man was going to receive treatment for minor wounds, and the elderly driver for serious lacerations.

Florida Highway Patrol said DOT workers shut down the eastbound lanes for several hours to accommodate the standard scene clearance.
