1 dead, 2 injured in suspected DUI crash involving dump truck in Tampa

TAMPA, FL – A woman is facing DUI charges after a collision involving a dump truck in northeast Tampa claimed the life of her passenger, according to Fox 13.

The crash occurred at about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday when Chelsea Hernandez’s Toyota Scion ran the red light at the intersection of E. Columbus Drive and the I-4 entrance ramp and was hit by a dump truck.

An unidentified 25-year-old man who was riding in the Scion’s front passenger seat suffered fatal injuries in the crash.

Hernandez and a back-seat passenger were hosptialized with non-life-threatening injuries. The truck’s driver was unhurt.
