1 dead, 1 hospitalized after Dade City wrong-way wreck with big rig 

DADE CITY, FL – A GMC Sierra pickup truck driver died, and a tractor-trailer operator was sent to a hospital after a wrong-way wreck on U.S. 301 last Friday, March 14.

The pickup truck driver had driven south on U.S. 301 North when he crashed head-on into the big rig, Pasco News Online said. Florida Highway Patrol declared the pickup truck motorist dead at the scene.

The semi-truck driver, a 41-year-old man from Haines City, was left with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officials shut down the area for several hours to accommodate the scene clearance and investigation.
