NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR – A driver of a University of Tennessee semi-truck hauling football equipment got into a crash on I-40, leading to closures for many hours Sunday.
The collision was reported around 6:30 a.m. and the Arkansas Department of Transportation crews closed all eastbound lanes at Exit 153, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. according to KARK.
During the closures, crews and authorities advised drivers approaching the area to take I-30 West, get off at the Curtis Sykes Exit, and then take I-30 East to I-40 East.
Shutdowns lasted several hours not just due to the nature of Sunday’s wreck, but because ADOT crews had to work several hours to clear debris and a fuel spill that resulted from a Friday collision.
Authorities have not confirmed the exact cause of this collision, listed the number of people involved, or said if anyone was injured or hospitalized.
