Big rig driver unharmed when truck crashes into Current River

RANDOLPH COUNTY, AR – A driver of a tractor-trailer managed to escape injuries after crashing into the Current River along Highway 67 Monday.

The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and said the impact had damaged the guardrail, Kait8 revealed. Due to the nature of this crash, deputies had to close a significant portion of the Highway so that crews could remove the big rig from the water.

In addition, the driver of a Biggers Reyno fire truck had crashed their vehicle while responding to the tractor-trailer wreck. It’s not immediately clear what led to this secondary crash, but officials confirmed that the fire truck driver was taken to a hospital for unspecified wounds.

Highway closures started sometime after 3 p.m. and lasted until approximately 7:20 p.m.
