Officials investigate tanker truck rollover accident in Phenix City

PHENIX CITY, AL – Officials are investigating the details behind what caused a tanker truck to overturn on Highway 280 near J.R. Allen Parkway last Wednesday, Jan. 15.

The crash was reported before noon, and Alabama Department of Transportation and Phenix City fire crews responded to the scene shortly after, according to WTVM

The impact of the wreck caused the truck to overturn and land on its side. Officials confirmed the vehicle did not spill any hazardous materials on the road. Still, authorities called for the shutdown of the ramp due to the nature of the crash. During these closures, traffic delays continued to surge as crews worked to clear up any debris.

First responders were not able to confirm any sustained injuries or need for hospitalizations.
