BIRMINGHAM, AL – Fire crews and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) were called to an I-495 crash involving a big rig, box truck, and a car that ended in a fuel spill Thursday.
The events took place around 11:30 a.m. on the southbound lanes along Acton Road, and the impact caused 30 to 50 gallons of hydraulic fluid to spill onto the interstate, WVTM13. Due to the nature of the wreck, ALEA shut down the area for several hours so hazmat workers could clean up the mess.
Authorities lifted all lane closures just before 4 p.m. and confirmed all of the occupants were unharmed.
