MOBILE, AL – A driver of an Amazon semi-truck sustained minor wounds, and a driver of a passenger vehicle died when both vehicles collided head-on and caught on fire Tuesday.
This crash occurred before 1 a.m. on I-65 near the I-10 connector, according to FOX10TV.
The Mobile Police Department said the events of this deadly wreck unfolded when the driver of the passenger vehicle drove north on southbound I-65 and then was supposedly hit by the semi. As such, the passenger vehicle got trapped underneath the semi, both vehicles caught fire, and the driver passed away.
Police did not confirm if the semi-driver was hospitalized, although they said the Mobile Fire Rescue Department was able to extinguish the flames from both vehicles.
Firefighters said they “used all 500 gallons of its onboard water tank” to extinguish the flames from the semi. The impact of the fire destroyed all the packages on board.
