MONTGOMERY, AL – A fiery collision involving an flatbed truck and three vehicles on Tuesday morning has closed a section of southbound I-85 and the South Perry Street bridge.

According to AL.com, The flatbed truck, carrying lumber, struck the South Perry Street bridge’s support columns, igniting a blaze that damaged the bridge.

No major injuries were reported, but the truck was destroyed.

The fire’s intensity caused significant harm to the bridge’s structure, leading to closures of the highway and bridge. Emergency repairs are being planned to allow partial highway use.
