Driver dies after vehicle collides with semi-trailer truck in Mobile

MOBILE COUNTY, AL — A 33-year-old woman lost her life Wednesday morning, February 14, following a crash involving a semi-trailer truck in Mobile, according to WKRG.

The accident happened on a stretch of Interstate 65 from Dauphin Street to Airport Boulevard, prompting a response from Mobile Police Department officers at about 7:20 a.m.

Authorities said the semi-trailer truck was towing a box trailer southbound when it was hit by another vehicle while in the center lane.

The driver of the other vehicle, Elizabeth Carvalho De Souza, was rushed to a local hospital for life-threatening injuries. She was later pronounced deceased, confirmed officials.

An investigation into the circumstances of the event remains open and ongoing.
