ESCAMBA COUNTY, AL – A 58-year-old man from Bay Minette lost his life as a result of a head-on collision involving a commercial vehicle Wednesday morning near north Atmore, reports My NBC 15 News.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) said the fatal wreck occurred on Alabama State Highway 21 near mile marker 10, just south of Ross Road and about two miles north of Coastal Alabama Community College.
A preliminary investigation found that the Bay Minette man was operating a 2004 Ford F-150 pickup truck when, for reasons still unclear, the vehicle struck a 2018 International 7000 dump truck head-on.
The driver of the pickup, who was not secured by a seatbelt at the time of impact, died at the scene.
Officials did not immediately indicate whether the driver of the dump truck, a 35-year-old Hamilton resident, was hurt.
No charges or citations have been reported as of this writing.
