PHENIX CITY, AL – A crash in Phenix City involving an SUV and a semi-truck resulted in the deaths of two adults and a child, as well as the serious injury of a second child, WTVM reports.
The collision occurred on Highway 80 East near Garrett Harrison Stadium, where an SUV rear-ended a semi-truck.
Two adult occupants of the SUV were pronounced dead at the scene around 6:12 p.m., according to Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry Jr. They have been identified as Ami Napier, 32, and Jimmy Napier Jr., 33.
The Napiers’ two young children were riding in the back of the vehicle.
One of the children was airlifted to an Atlanta Hospital in critical condition. Tragically, they subsequently succumbed to injuries.
The other child suffered severe injuries. Their current condition is unclear.
The Russell County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation into the accident.
