BIRMINGHAM, AL — A BPD officer was hospitalized Thursday afternoon following a Birmingham crash involving a pickup truck with an extended flatbed, reports AL.com.
Birmingham Police said the accident occurred at 19th Street Ensley and Avenue V, in the city’s Ensley area, at around 1:44 p.m.
An early investigation shows the officer was traveling in an unmarked police Chevrolet Impala when it was hit by a pickup truck towing the oversize flatbed. While the nature of the crash was not specified, the front driver’s side of the police vehicle bore the impact.
The officer was transported to a local hospital by Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service crews. No information on the severity of the patient’s condition has been shared.
Officials said the truck driver was not reported hurt.
