1 killed, another hurt in pickup truck-big rig crash in Florence 

FLORENCE, AL – A pickup truck driver died, and a big rig operator was injured following a crash on Alabama 20 near mile marker 15 Wednesday.

The collision happened around 3 p.m., according to WAAY TV. Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said that the driver of the 2003 Ford Ranger had lost control of his vehicle and slammed into the 2022 Freightliner Cascadia truck.

Troopers declared the pickup truck driver dead at the scene and took the surviving tractor-trailer driver to North Alabama Medical Center.

Authorities have not disclosed the surviving occupant’s current physical condition.

The deceased victim has since been identified as Christopher K Calvert, 55, from Florence.

An investigation is underway.
