Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-85 in South Carolina Leaves One Dead

OCONEE COUNTY, SC – Several people were injured and one was killed in a crash involving a tractor-trailer and four other vehicles on I-85 in Oconee County Tuesday morning, WYFF 4 reports.

According to South Carolina Highway Patrol, the multi-vehicle collision occurred near exit 2 around 6 am. The tractor-trailer rear-ended a Chevy pickup, causing a chain reaction that ended with the tractor-trailer crossing into oncoming traffic, colliding with another Chevy pickup, and overturning.

Three drivers were taken to nearby hospitals with injuries. One driver, 34-year-old Rafael B. Veloz, was pronounced dead on the scene.

Law enforcement reports that vehicles were slowing for construction traffic at the time of the accident.
