LANSING, MI – One person was killed and another was hurt in a chain-reaction wreck that took place on I-96 on Wednesday, according to WLNS.
Preliminary details show that the semi-truck driver rear-ended a passenger vehicle, which resulted in a chain-reaction wreck involving two other semi-trucks.
The driver of the passenger vehicle died from her injuries at the scene. She was identified as a woman from Portland, Michigan. One truck driver, a 65-year-old man from Georgia, was hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries. The other truck driver, a 34-year-old adult from southeast Michigan, was uninjured.
Authorities did not specify how the collision unfolded. However, according to the photos, the impact of the crash caused the passenger vehicle to become trapped underneath, which likely left the woman trapped or pinned just before her death.
The vehicle was significantly damaged, and one of the trucks ended up coming to rest in a ditch.
