SMYRNA, GA – One person was sent to the hospital as a result of a fiery collision involving a trash truck that took place on Haven Park Circle last Wednesday, Sept. 3.
According to WSBTV, the events unfolded around 4:30 p.m. when the trash truck driver lost control of their vehicle, which caused it to overturn, tumble down a hill, and then slam into a car.
The force of the collision caused the car to catch on fire and damage a portion of a home. Out of the two truck operators, one of them sustained minor burns and was taken to the hospital. The two home occupants were uninjured.
Cobb County fire crews confirmed that one person was driving the truck, and the other truck occupant was outside of the truck when the collision occurred.
HAZMAT crews had to offload fuel from the truck before Waste Connections could transport the truck with burned garbage to a trash disposal site.
