Semi crash in Jackson Co., MS, sends 2 to hospital

JACKSON COUNTY, MS – Two people are in the hospital after a big rig collided with a flatbed tow truck on Highway 63 last Sunday morning, WLOX reports.

Emergency responders arrived on the scene shortly after 10 a.m. Firefighters extricated the driver and a passenger from the tow truck. The driver was airlifted to an area hospital, while the passenger was transported by ambulance. Their current conditions are unknown.

The wreck shut down traffic in the area for several hours.

Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, Mississippi Highway Patrol, Acadian Ambulance, and Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality all coordinated on the emergency response.

WLOX did not mention the exact location of the collision.

Mississippi Highway Patrol was continuing their investigations as of press time.
