SHERMAN, TX – A 51-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man were killed in a multi-vehicle collision involving three tractor-trailers on U.S. 75 South Thursday.
According to KXII, the collision unfolded during a construction zone south of FM-691. Preliminary details reveal that one tractor-trailer driver rear-ended a car. This crash led to a collision that also involved two other tractor-trailers and one car.
The impact of the crash caused the first truck to catch on fire, and one of the cars to become trapped underneath one of the trucks. Following the crash, the 51-year-old woman and 20-year-old man, who were traveling in one of the cars, died from their injuries at the scene.
Tow truck crews were called to the scene to help remove the car trapped underneath one of the trucks.
Authorities shut down U.S. 75 for many hours so crews could remove the vehicles from the accident scene, clean up debris from the crash, and conduct the investigation process.
