BROOKLET, GA – A semi-truck driver ran a stop sign, which led to a fatal T-bone crash that killed a woman and a 15-year-old girl.
WTOC said the collision occurred at the intersection of Georgia 46 and Nevils Denmark Road before 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. It was there that the truck driver ignored the stop sign and T-boned into a Honda Odyssey van, driven by a woman.
Bulloch County EMS crews transported the woman by ground to a hospital. She died from her injuries before she arrived at the emergency room. She has since been identified as 49-year-old Azure Rountree.
Rountree’s passenger and daughter, the 15-year-old girl, were airlifted to Memorial Hospital. The daughter was initially left in critical condition and succumbed to her injuries on Thursday.
The truck driver was uninjured and confessed to running the stop sign.
Georgia State Patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team, Bulloch County fire crews, and Bulloch County deputies responded to the scene.
Officials shut down the area for over three hours for the cleanup process and investigation.
Troopers did not specify whether they cited the truck driver for running a stop sign.
