SC trooper seriously hurt in collision with box truck in Orangeburg Co. 

ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC – A South Carolina Highway Patrol trooper was seriously hurt after getting struck by a box truck on I-26 Sunday.

WBTV said the collision happened around 2 a.m. According to preliminary details, the trooper, identified as Dennis Ricks, was conducting a traffic stop when he was struck by a box truck passing through the interstate.

Medical helicopter personnel rushed to the scene and airlifted Ricks to a North Charleston hospital.

The truck driver, identified as 45-year-old Anthony Aydlette, appeared virtually for a hearing held at Orangeburg Magistrate Court. There, he was granted a $647.50 bond and charged with driving under suspension.
