ATTALA COUNTY, MS – Two tractor-trailer drivers were killed in a fiery head-on crash that happened on Highway 12 last Friday, July 25.
WAPT said one tractor-trailer hauling logs had veered out of its lane and crashed head-on with another tractor-trailer hauling pipes. The force of the collision caused both trucks to catch fire. Moments later, a woman driving a sedan had crashed into one of the trucks, which also caused her vehicle to catch fire.
The woman was able to escape her burning vehicle uninjured, while the two truck drivers died from their injuries at the scene.
Mississippi Highway Patrol identified the log truck driver as 45-year-old John Hedges from Kilmichael, Mississippi, and the other truck driver as Raul Rosquete from Clearwater, Florida.
Officials shut down Highway 12 for several hours so fire crews could extinguish the flames and clean up debris from the crash.
