GEORGETOWN, TX – One person was taken to a nearby hospital after a crash between a septic tank truck and a big rig in Georgetown Tuesday.
According to CBS Austin, the events unraveled when the septic trunk began to experience mechanical issues on SH 130. The septic truck driver began to lose control of their truck and crashed into a concrete barrier, blocking a major portion of the highway. Moments later, a big rig was approaching. The big rig driver noticed the septic truck and pressed on their brakes to avoid a crash, which caused the truck to jackknife.
Both trucks were left with significant damage, and one of the truck drivers/occupants was left with minor injuries. The crash happened before 9 a.m. and prompted officials to shut down the roads to mitigate and clean up diesel fuel that spilled from one of the trucks.
Authorities cleared the scene by 11:15 a.m. but continued with the road closures to continue the clean-up process.
