Crews shut down Hwy 31. after big rig, CSX train crash in Calera

CALERA, AL – Alabama Department of Transportation crews had to shut down a portion of Highway 31 on Saturday due to a crash between a big rig and a CSX train Saturday. 

According to ABC 3340, crews and first responders closed the area between Highway 25, 17th Avenue, 20th Avenue, and 23rd Avenue for the clean-up process and investigation. During the closures, drivers were asked to seek alternative routes. 

The exact cause of the crash, including the extent of injuries, has not been reported. New details will be added after our team learns more.
