Man fatally hit by garbage truck after ejecting from motorcycle in Pell City

PELL CITY, AL – A 35-year-old man died Monday morning, May 19, after being thrown from a motorcycle and then hit by a garbage truck in Pell City, reports AL.com.

Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) officials said the fatal incident occurred on U.S. Highway 231, about a mile north of the city, at around 6:19 a.m.

Preliminary details show the victim, a Ragland resident, was operating a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. At one point, for reasons still unclear, he lost control and was ejected and hit a Peterbilt garbage truck traveling head-on.

First responders pronounced the motorcyclist deceased at the scene.

The truck driver, a 36-year-old Steele resident, appears to have cooperated with investigators following the crash.
