HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL – A truck overturned Tuesday evening on Interstate 75 near Tampa, sending its 19-year-old driver to the hospital, according to ABC Action News.
Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) said the scene unfolded on the southbound highway before Bruce B. Downs Boulevard, at around 4:30 p.m.
A preliminary investigation found that the 19-year-old was behind the wheel of the truck when he swerved to avoid striking an unspecified object. The sudden movement caused the vehicle to lose control and then flip as it collided with a barrier wall.
First responders transported the driver, who suffered minor injuries, to a local hospital.
Two southbound lanes of I-75 in the area were closed during the emergency response.
