ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC – South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a collision involving a trash truck that left two SUV occupants dead and injured another Tuesday.
The driver of the 2019 Chevrolet Equinox SUV had lost control of their vehicle while driving on I-95 and rear-ended the trash truck, WRDW said.
South Carolina Highway Patrol pulled up to the accident scene after 12:45 a.m. After arriving, they declared the SUV driver and front passenger dead at the scene. EMS crews arrived a short time later and took one surviving SUV occupant, the back-seated passenger, to a local hospital for treatment.
The truck driver was spared from injuries.
Troopers are continuing to investigate the events that led to the fatal crash.
