SEVIERVILLE, TN – A man was taken into custody following police chase and resulting crash involving a stolen garbage truck in Sevierville on Monday.
According to WATE, police were notified of the stolen trucks arrival in Sevierville at about 7 a.m. Officers then deployed spike strips on West Main Street, causing the truck veer off the roadway and slam into the Tennessee Hot Tubs showroom.
The driver, Shawn White, was arrested and transported to University of Tennessee Medical Center with unspecified injuries. Sevierville spokesperson Bob Stahlke said White is believed to be involved in a stabbing/carjacking on Chapman Highway in Knox County prior to the crash.
No additional injuries were reported.
