OXFORD, AL – A semi-truck driver lost his life, and his passenger was injured as a result of a semi-truck rollover crash on I-20 near Mahaffey Road Tuesday.
Alabama State Troopers told AL that the rollover accident happened at 9:45 a.m. Upon arrival, troopers declared the driver dead at the scene, and EMS crews took the passenger to Baptist Health Citizens Hospital.
The deceased victim was identified as 54-year-old Jesus M. Pita from Homestead, and the surviving occupant as 29-year-old Leonard N. Hilliard from Georgia.
Officials are working to pinpoint why Pita lost control of his truck.
