JACKSONVILLE, FL – Jacksonville Fire Rescue had to extricate a driver from their 18-wheeler after they crashed into a building Tuesday morning.
According to video footage obtained by WFLA, it appears that the driver lost control of their big rig and struck a pickup truck prior to plowing through the building in the Eastside area.
Fire rescue crews expressed concerns about the structural integrity of the building, which is nearly a century old, stating they thought the roof would fall on them while conducting the extrication. Fortunately, the roof stayed intact, and the extrication was a success. As it stands, the driver is recovering from serious injuries.
Authorities did not specify which building was damaged, and the owner of the property did not provide a time estimate for how long the building would have to be closed for the necessary repairs.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating all aspects behind the wreck. No other details are available at this time.
